Shared Care Agreement Requests from 1st June 2025
After careful consideration, we wish to inform that we are unable to accept new shared care arrangements as there is insufficient funding for us to do so. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to subsidise the monitoring and the prescribing in General Practice.
As per General Medical Council (GMC) guidance, a shared care arrangement requires the agreement of all parties, including the patient, specialist, and GP. It is essential that all parties communicate effectively and work together. In this instance, we are unable to participate in the shared care agreement due to the reasons outlined above.
Should we receive such requests, Hospital Consultants will be asked to kindly continue to manage the prescribing and monitoring responsibilities for your medication.
Should the funding situation in Primary Care change we will naturally revisit our decision.
I am sorry that this isn’t the news that you would wish to hear, but we hope you can understand our position. If, however, you wish to take this matter further, we suggest you contact Sussex Integrated Care Board, of which we provide the details below.
