This review is for the benefit of patients with high blood pressure. 

A typical annual hypertension review with one of the Practice Nurses or Health Care Assistants last around 15- 20 minutes.

During your review, the Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant will;

• Take your blood pressure, possible two or three times to get the best reading.
• They may also need to take a sample of your blood especially if you are on hypertensive medication and or statins. It is important to have a blood test at least once a year.
• They may also discuss the various lifestyle factors that can contribute to high blood pressure and encourage weight loss, regular physical activity, a healthy diet and stopping smoking, as appropriate for each patient.

• or the direct booking link you may have received by text message.

Please note review appointments are bookable between 08:30 -13:00 Monday to Friday.

Please make sure you drink plenty of liquid before your appointment should a blood test be needed.

Additionally we would recommend our hypertensive patients to invest in a Blood Pressure machine for home use.

If you monitor your Blood Pressure at home, please bring a record of the last 7 days' readings or email it to: petworth.surgery@nhs.net prior to your appointment or periodically if you wish. When emailing, please ensure your full name, date of birth and address are on the email so we can easily identify you.

If you received a text message from us, you can submit your home readings by completing the linked Florey questionnaire. We may ask you to send us 3 consecutive readings or may ask you to send readings every day for 4 or 7 days.

If you do not have a blood pressure monitor at home but you would like to have your blood pressure checked you can come to the surgery and use our health kiosk in the waiting room. No appointment needed just let our receptionist know.
